Text of the Deed of Sale of Prague Bishop Tobias of Bechyně (1284)
"We, Tobias, by the grace of God Bishop of Prague, wish to make known to all places now designated for writings, that we — wishing to make improvements with the consent of honourable men, the lords provosts, the master dean and the chapter of our Prague chapter, our beloved brethren — have sold, with perpetual hereditary right, certain lands of our bishopric in the village of Slatina in three ploughlands and in the village of Na Poli, divided into two rural curiae, to the noble man Lord Bohuslav, castellan of Zvíkov, for one hundred and seventy marks of silver; for which sum of money we have judged more useful property for us and our church to be of equal value.
In testimony of this our sale and as a permanent record, we issue to the noble Lord Bohuslav a document sealed with both our seal and that of the provost of our chapter."
